This page is largely under construction and will contain the key information for those interested/involved in the Organists' Training Scheme. In the meantime, here's a brief provided at the last Area Committee Meeting: The Organists' Training Scheme follows similar lines to the Voice for Life Scheme, in that it measures Organists' ability and competence over several key skills areas; not just ability to play the organ, but also the application to the service of our churches and worship. One award was presented at our choral festival in 2003. Tim Eyles [Swindon] has two new pupils following the scheme and in order to encourage more involvement throughout our Area and beyond, John Henderson will be including some publicity in forthcoming diocesan mailings. Somerset Area will also be contacted with an aim to introducing the scheme there as well. If you would like more information about the scheme, please do not hesitate to contact our area coordinator for the scheme: Philip Carter. Please note also the various RSCM training activities for organists, which have been highlighted in the RSCM Activities/Events page on our website. Most of these courses are held at Sarum College [Salisbury]. |
