There once was a maiden named Cholmondeley,
Who everyone said was quite colmondeley,
Yet the maid was so shy
That when strangers were nigh
She always would stand around dolmondeley.
(key: Cholmondeley is pronounced Chumley)
There was a young curate of Salisbury
Whose manners were quite halisbury-scalisbury.
He would wander round Hampshire
Without any pampshire,
Till the vicar compelled him to walisbury.
(key: Salisbury used to be called Sarum and Hampshire is abbreviated to Hants.)
She frowned and called him Mr.
Because in sport he Kr.
And so in spite,
That very night,
This Mr. Kr. Sr.
